Twin Peaks Baton Rouge Raises Over $11,000 for the Drew Moscona Foundation

Ultimate Sports Lodge hosts golf tournament to raise funds for child’s medical expenses

DALLAS (May 4, 2015) – Twin Peaks, the ultimate sports lodge known for its made-from-scratch kitchen, rugged atmosphere, and playful Twin Peaks Girls, recently teamed up with Southpoint Volkswagon and Darren James Real Estate to host a charity golf tournament in Baton Rouge to raise funds for the Drew Moscona Foundation. The tournament helped to raise $11,500 for the foundation.

Drew Moscona, infant son of longtime local ESPN radio host Matt Moscona, was born in July with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. This disease allowed his abdominal organs to migrate into his chest cavity, causing his right lung to push his heart to the right side of his chest and allowing only a small amount of the left lung tissue to grow. To date, Baby Drew has undergone five major surgeries, including two heart surgeries.

The golf tournament was held on March 23 at The Island Golf Course in Plaquemine, LA. A total of 22 teams participated in the tournament with every player paying a $100 entry fee. Each participant received a ditty bag which included Twin Peaks golf balls, a Twin Peaks bounce back card, EPSN t-shirt, and golf items from Edwin Watts Golf. An auction was held at the end of the tournament with items such as a Twin Peaks golf bag, signed and framed LSU sports prints, rounds of golf from local golf courses, and tickets to LSU sporting events. 100% of all proceeds from the entry fees and auction went towards defraying medical expenses for Baby Drew.

“We are grateful that we were able to host this wonderful event to raise funds for Baby Drew, his father Matt, and mother Erika,” said Randy Rice of Randy Rice & Associates. “Drew and his family are finally home in Baton Rouge for the first time since Drew’s birth, but will undoubtedly face future surgeries. We can only hope that this money will help to lighten the burden on the Moscona family as Drew continues to heal.”
